It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

So, I love Halloween. I mean LOVE it. It's my favorite holiday (take that Earth day!). I wanted to do a whole series in this style for the month of October over at my regular blog, but I was only able to get through a few films with my busy month. So, here are pics from some of my favorite Horror Movies.

Note: all these were done with a brush pen I was playing around with. Some fun effects, all in all.

Old school HORROR!!!

So here's an old school horror movie that I loved as a kid.
(side note here. I know that the rant to follow will make me seem like an old man complaining about the next generation, but in all fairness to me,... well, I am old, and dang it things have gotten weird.)
I know the image isn't bloody with gore for gore's sake, but it was cool. When did Halloween become an excuse for ladies to dress trampy, and everyone to bath in blood and carnage? Bring back spooooky halloween. And now that I have kids, I can't even take them to a Halloween store, because it's filled with nightmare inducers, like demon babies eating baby body parts!
Okay, rant over,

I'm doing a Castlevania themed week over at my blog this week (funny how these coincide eh?) So here are the first few, I will post the second part in a couple days.

Trevor Belmont, descendant of Simon Belmont. Here he's wielding the chain whip "Vampire Killer" from Castlevania III

Grant, X-Pirate and Trevor Belmont's sidekick in Castlevania III

Death, Dracula's Right hand Man throughout the Castlevania series.

So I was feeling pretty excited about getting to go to Japan last night, so I decided to watch Akira. Then I decided to draw some Akira too. Hope you guys like it.

There's a mummy somewhere...

There's a mummy somewhere... I mean, in the game,...right? What the heck do I know. I never played Castlevania, but when I googled it, I saw a mummy, so there ya go.

Mucha's Precious Geek Stones

And, finally, together at last.

The (Girl) Who Lived... Come to Die

When I married my wife, she informed me that as far as men go in her life, I ranked beneath her grandfather and Harry Potter. 7 years later and I think I might have finally overtaken the boy who lived, but I can't be sure.

Anyways, finishing off my homage to Mucha's Precious Stones, here is the mudblood, herself, Hermione Granger:

Dirty Harry

I like the Harry Potter movies (I've never read the books,...sue me) but I've always been frustrated by the fact that one sniper could have taken out Vold-e-hoosits from a football field away. BAM war over, go to second period.  That's why those wizards stay in England, the second amendment. tee hee.
ps. Apologies to my wife, she REALLY loves the books.

it's all about slim chances now

Poor Rick, it so isn't easy being this poor guy in the show or the book, in any case I opted for the comic version of rick, enjoy.

When There Is No More Room in Hell, the Dead Will Walk the Earth...

So, bit of a snaffu - last week was Harry Potter week, but with almost everyone going to the New York Comic Con, no one had a chance to post. So, we're going to have a combined week, this week - Harry Potter AND The Walking Dead.

Love the Walking Dead.
Back in 2006, just after the second trade of the comic was released, I started reading the series and said "This needs to be a TV show."

And then, 4 years later, it was. And it's awesome.

And the second season premiered tonight.

You all should be watching. Cause zombies are awesome. And this show is amazing.

Our new celebrity...

I'm trying to get ahead of the curve, as I fell behind so far before. I'm a convert to Potter after being and anti-Potter-ite. I was convinced of the error of my ways.

"...and my axe!"

I'm starting to catch up. I love Lord of the Rings! I saw it at the midnight showing, although I had never read the books, didn't really like fantasy, and was really doubtful of Peter Jackson's ability to color within the lines let alone make a good movie. I went for fun with friends, I dressed up like Harry Potter and sat down to mock the movie. Three hours later, in tears with Samwise, I'm repeating, "He made a promise, Mr Frodo!" I was ever after changed. Enjoy!

To every generation is born...

I've been a fan of Buffy since I saw the movie on TV as a kid. I used to make nachos and watch it with my friend Steve. Just before the third season of the TV show started, I was introduced to it. I caught up on the first two seasons and loved them--but my favorite was always season three.
A few months ago I was just day dreaming and I started wondering if it would be possible to turn Buffy into an animated movie (ala DreamWorks, Pixar, BlueSky, Sony style). I sat and brainstormed with my wife whenever we were in the car, and sometimes lying in bed going to sleep. We figured out a trilogy structure based off of the TV show trying to draw from all of the greatest elements--while keeping it PG. My wife is the only one who humors me, but if anyone would like to hear my pitch, I'd love to bore them:)

So I've been in a pretty bad creative slump lately, and whenever that happens it always smart to get some artistic frustration out and do something youve been wanting to for awhile.

Plus I needed to post here again, its been awhile. This is for the video game characters week.
Does anyone know what this is? No? Hmmmmm, you may be better off never knowing what this is to be honest.

If your feeling like you don't want to sleep tonight and want to lean around ever corner of your house for week, however, go look up Amnesia: The dark decent.

(Number) Six Days A Week

So, nerd confession, BSG isn't really my thing. I know I should love it, but I don't. That's not to say there isn't good things about it. Like Tricia Helfer. Continuing my Mucha series, here we are:
