Mow-wow

Before I knew anything about the awesomeness that is the comics world, I knew Calvin & Hobbes.  My dad owned the single volume "Weirdos from another planet" and I probably read it enough times to memorize it.  That being said, I wish I had time to make a proper tribute last week, but I was busy getting ready for Fluke.  Hopefully I'll make something more worthwhile later, but for now, enjoy a real tiger Hobbes and a stuffed Calvin.

Batman

Alright I know this week is supposed to be Batman villains but I don't care and I'm shamelessly promoting myself and my colorist on this project. This is a piece that was done for a contest and I was lucky enough to have it colored by the great Matt Doering, for those of you who go to SCAD and didn't know Matt while he was there as you can tell his coloring work speaks for itself. I'm extremely proud of this one and will be selling it at cons this year, enjoy guys.

Giggles the Murder Clown

aka the Joker (please excuse my terrible joke lol)

but yeah arguably the greatest villain of time.

Catwoman

So I realized I have yet to post a female character yet, so I opted to go with catwoman.

My Favorite Villainess Ever

Pretty sure my favorite batman villainess, especially from the animated series.  I always loved when all the girl villains got together.

Brush and marker on plate bristol.  Original will be for sale at heroescon :3

You're not smiling!

Alright this isn't my actual piece i did for this week but because I've been so busy I didnt get a chance to scan my actual one, these are some older pieces I did about 2 yrs ago now. The first one was done as a gift for someone and they actually still have it hanging on the wall, and the second was done as a sample piece for a company that things never panned out with, like I said I've got my actual piece for the week coming but I figured it was a good time to just throw some older stuff up here.

SCareCRoW

This was a hard choice. To go along with what Phillip said, Batman has the best villains! If I had a ton of time on my hands I would do different pieces for all the villains. But Scarecrow is one that I find pretty interesting and the character falls into my style. So I had an awesome time doing this one.

Forever Young

Late again...as usual.

Any way, Waterson has always been a big inspiration for me. One of my favorite childhood memories is reading those big volume-ized editions of all his comics. I still think he does the best winter scene ever.

The Last Supper

Batman has the BEST villains ever. Ever. So, how can this NOT be a theme and me not try to draw all of them.

And, since it was Easter - why not do the Last Supper homage. I'm planning on coloring this soon, but didn't have time for this week.

DEXTER!

I bet you kids forgot I existed!

Dexter was fun to draw, especially since I'm experimenting with brushes right now. So perfect for that.

Calvin and Hobbes...and Dexter

Phil said it. This week we're doing both. Bill Watterson will always be a hero of mine. Brilliant technique, perfectly charming drawings, intelligent, laugh out loud humor, and memorable characters. I really enjoyed making this and trying to emulate Watterson's style. Also, Dexter rules. Stoooopid.

Dave out.

Dexter's Lab

Like Rashad, I love comic book'ing cartoons. I can't help it. I think it's awesome. So, here's Dexter, as a grown-up comic book villain.

NEXTWAVE

So... I HAD to do the chick with two shotguns... I tried to do someone else, it just didn't work out.

Agents of H.A.T.E.

Nextwave is simply one of my all time favorite comics, and I was originally planning to just draw the Captain being an ass, but well, the sketching continued and I went with the whole group. We need more comics like this!

Next Wave

words can't express how much i love this series. a perfect blend of modern mainstream books, silver age tropes, action manga, and comedy good lord the comedy. which resulted in me spending way too much time on this pic, lol.

Dirk Anger

Okay, so, I came in late to the Nextwave train. Great, great stuff. Warren Ellis having fun is the best thing to read ever. And the best part of the book? Dirk Anger.
Anger, riding MODOK - what more can you ask for in life?

Jetpack failure

Unfortunately, it looks like this quarter is going to be more than a little hectic.  But for starters, here's Dr Horrible with a badly-gone experimental jetpack.

The jet pack is back there...I swear!

Ok, well maybe I lied, but I haven't posted for a minute and I thought that cool lookin space girl could limbo under the bar on this one.......sue me. I've never been a big fan of jet packs anyway, the legs would be burned off instantly! I mean, come on!!!!

Anyway, hope you enjoy this crap, I've been practicing with the G-nib for inking techniques.

Rocket Bieber!

Drew up Robert Kirkman's and Corey Walker's Science Dog for rocket pack week and lol the Bieber in all his pop glory.

Everybody Wants A Piece

I don't know why Lee is so obsessed with the Bieb (he even styles his dreads like Bieb somedays), but whatever. Was fun to draw Larfleeze.

Jet pack guy

So I'm a little late but this is my jet pack guy, part steam punk, part WW1 pilot, and part concepts of a character I did for a failed Slave Labor project. I like this guy though and am hopefully going to revisit him at some point. Im rather proud of this guy cause I managed to just whip him up at work.
