Hail the goth king baby

Hey guys! Wish I had more time but the crow is one of my all time faves so here's my throwback to a J.O.Barr original drawing that had me fixated as a kid. Hope you like!

The Crow

Quick sketch here, but Crow's just so awesome looking I couldn't miss this week.

So serious...

I think The Crow has just cause to be a little wound up and angry, not just because of his being murdered and the horrors his wife suffered, but because Heath Ledger came along years later and totally took over as the definitive master of crazed face-painted gritty-city comic book movie characters. Seriously, I had the biggest fascination with The Crow as a teenager--I contemplated long and hard whether I wanted to post pictures of me dressed up like the character the two Halloweens in a row I dressed up like him or not. This little sketch doesn't do it justice, but it's what I can manage at the moment:)

Jonny Quest 2!

So here's my second Jonny Quest painting. This would be the cover to "Jonny Quest and the Pyramid of Mystery" if such a book existed. Prints available for this and the "Champ" painting, and process on my blog soon.

Monsters are always late!

Hey guys! sorry for the delay but I've been having problems with blogspot at my place. Anyway, here is my tribute to one of the underdogs of Dreamworks Animation, This movie actually had some pretty cool designs and ideas, and I think one of it's stronger points were the jokes. It was really funny but the visual aspect wasn't as impressive as Kung Fu Panda or HTTYD. In any case is a good movie to check out and to be honest, classic monsters are always a great character idea.

BANDIT!

Let's hear it for the unsung heroes of the Jonny Quest saga. And the most important of these is Bandit, the coolest french bulldog ever. I am working on another Quest piece too, so watch for it soon.

Dragons!

A bit of a rush job at times, but I wanted to have something a little more spiffy for the DreamWorks week. How To Train Your Dragon was a big indicator for me that DreamWorks was getting it as storytellers and filmmakers. So fun, and so engaging--I look forward to the sequel, but I'm more looking forward to being involved on such a project in the future:)

A new Yoda?

I wonder if I'm able to make a post without referencing Star Wars, but I thought Oogway was the best sage old mentor since Yoda (especially since the Prequels Yoda). I just loved his design, which I'm not sure I did justice to, but he was so fun. Looking at him makes us look at the Ninja Turtles in a whole new way. Just like Yoda, no one expected him to cut lose and whip some tushie! He's one of my favorites!
It's shameful that my theme week is almost out and I'm finally posting, but I have another one on the way, so just wait. How's that for a lame teaser! Ha!

SKA-DOOOSH!

Only Dreamworks could take the laziest animal on the planet, and turn it into Kung Fu awesome. Also much props to my pal and fellow SCAD-E Phil Craven. Storyboarder on Kung Fu 1, and Head of Story on Kung Fu 2.

PUSS........in boots

I'm doubling up this week!  The first image is a patch I did for my Fire Dept.  We have lime green engines, of which we are one of the few in the new york area to my knowledge.  Nothing every came of this but the guys liked the idea of Shrek being our mascot so I drew this up for them.
And of course we have PUSS.....in boots, if you havent seen his movie it's surprisingly good, I thought it was going to suck but it actually has a sense of Aladin mixed with what made the first Shrek so good.

Holo

Gotta love Megamind and his mispronunciation of words.
